The textiles were the main focus of this collection, it was based on the strong contrast between denim and leather. Leather is a strong durable material. It is hard to rip, puncture, or even hurt the leather itself. The color black represents endurance, confidence, protection, and elegance simultaneously. As humans I believe we ideally want to be strong, carry beauty, and remain unfazed at anything that comes our way. That's why we enhance ourselves with black leather. There’s a symbolic meaning behind it.
In actuality that’s not always the case. The human species are more similar to Denim. Denim is a durable material. Although at times it can be vulnerable. Over many years of stress, denim can break down. Denim has a limit. As we all do because it tears, it rips, and pieces of it fall apart. I was becoming more like denim, but for many years I believed I was leather. Now on the outside looking in, I am also denim. Denim can be repaired and restored, it can be helped and saved just as I did for myself.
Human biology leans towards denim, naturally. At times there’s vulnerability, I don’t see a problem with people reaching for another persons hand for help. From one person to another, I encourage you to love yourself, love others more, and find what you love.
